This has got "mugs" written all over it.

The government and media are doing a sterling job out of it, hyping it up and getting everybody to sign up. They are now confident of getting the maximum share price.

Short term profit ? Try it by all means , I doubt you can double your money.

Long term ? RM will increase prices every 3 months just to keep shareholders happy and in the end other courier companies that are circling around will get competitive and RM will sink. I give it 3 years.

It's a punt but I reckon there's a good short term profit in it.

Long term, unions and competition will sink it.

Why is there a short term profit in it ? What will make the share price shoot up in 3 months time ?

Valuation at IPO. Still a bit of a punt IMHO, but prices will likely rise short-term, i.e. the company is likely undervalued at IPO.

The offer is generally thought to be under valued, so there is a short term profit (days not months) where the consensus of opinion is that the shares are really worth about 400-450p rather than the 330p offer price, so there is room for a quick buck, but I don't feel that many people other than the big investment funds will get more than the minimum allocation of 250 or so shares

Wow, everyone must be serious about this. 13 votes and not one single Andy's mum vote. That must be a record

As the others have said, IPO consensus is it's undervalued.

Only time will tell of course.

Quick question - I open a Hargreaves Lansdown ISA and apply for 4k Royal Mail shares.
Supposing I only get an allocation of £750. Can I get the 3250 back or will I be obliged to invest it in other funds?
