The man who is trying to sift £50k off you or the man who reads an awful lot about cars and has no bearing in how much money you spend. I wonder...

It does, I own 2 merc 3.0 diesels, and as nice as they are, I'd much prefer the 6.2/6.3 AMG unit, or even the Twin Turbo 5.5 V8 units.

If you are into cars, you're into cars.

And why is there no point?
Your imaginary RS6... As of two or three years back the RS6 and 8 have v10 twin turbos. As for why isn't there any point: What state would you have been in if the guy that knocked you off your bike was actually having a bit of racetrack fun on the wonderful Somerset roads? Seriously?

Up until a year or so back I had a Hirsch tuned 280Bhp Saab 95. It was way too fast for the Street if you made it's turbo howl. So why you think you would need over double the power of something thats already too fast? is it just for pub bragging rights?

Twin turbo V8's now, do keep up. What state would I have been if he'd have been doing the same in his Diesel Shooting brake. What about just going 10mph quicker, still under the legal limit for that road, in a Focus? FFS, are you serious?

Turbo howl? What the **** are you going on about? I can bet you, making the turbo howl in a 95 with a large turbo in second gear wouldn't be way too fast; use context. Between 30-80, an RS6 would lunch a CLS SB, you don't have to be stupid about it, you can also, I am led to believe, not only go abroad, but also onto race tracks.

I like quick cars, and as far as estates go, there are none better than an RS6

        Jesus wept.

        EDIT for clarity

Accident happened on the back roads, where the limit, legal, is 60. I was hit at about 25, 30 mph I reckon. If I had been hit at 20, I'd have the same injuries, possibly the same at 40, and he clipped me and my injuries were sustained in landing badly.

That makes you the typical sad middle aged bloke that bought a nice car and ruined it with a tractor engine doesn't it?

For my money I laid my money on a very nice petrol model life IS to short for diesels. But I still didn't feel the need for the AMG badge though.

Not at all and it's stupid of you to make that comment without all the info, for the models I have don't have the AMG engines, and as smooth as the Merc petrols are, they aren't all that good, in comparison the the market. I have a GL320CDI, and R350CDI. If they marketed an AMG here in GL format, I would have bought it, as it would have been a hoot.

But for you, life is too short for diesels, so you bought an underpowered petrol instead, and think you've been smart?

            Oh dear.

Oh dear, you really are a simple man aren't you. Both the R and GL are 4x4 - Could you be more stupid in an argument.

You enjoy your cooking 3.0 mate

I feel sorry for you, for everyone will know how stupid you've been, when they see the CLS350 Blue Efficiency badge on the car

I'll just look for the cloth cap and knowledge you've given up on life

I've come off my skies without the helmet, left the bindings, at 45kmph and walked away without scratch.

Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake review - mpg | Autocar

Mercedes claims the CLS350 CDI Shooting Brake will manage a very reasonable 47.1mpg combined and emit only 162g/km of CO2. We averaged only 36.2mpg over our time with the car, and our touring figure of 42.8mpg also suggests that the Shooting Brake is likely to make good use of its 80-litre tank.
