The elite get educated very well in excellent universities which are a match for any in the world - the problem is that the masses (those with poor exam results, whether at A-level or GSCE) don't.
You only have to look at the cretins on CUK.
Thankfully we have the elite like yourself to sit at home all day and tell us our failings. Perhaps Britain isn't fooked after all?

Not while there's people like me enhancing the balance of payments by exporting services to France and Germany.
      Hard Brexit now!

although personally I prefer the exports that don't require any work being done and just require checking the bank balance once in a while

As you never tire of repeating ad infinitum.
I don't think your pittance is going to make you rich though.

There is that, a cutter shattered on a milling machine I was working on whilst learning this stuff, small bit of metal got shot into my wrist, blood squirting everywhere, operation to get the metal removed the next day. Lost sensation in most of my right hand for a year so it was not all bad.

3 months in its allowed my wife who hated her job to quit it and do something else she enjoys instead.

To anyone apart from an utter cretin that must be a success

That's basically the same tactic the government employs. Are you a closet socialist leftie?
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Talking to a neighbour who is a gas safe heating engineer and plumber (he's also a fully qualified sparky) and he's hardly at work. Turns out after fixing a boiler he offers a pay monthly service like British Gas to cover call outs and repairs. He's got loads of local BTL landlords subscribing and this income means apart from the odd failure and once a year servicing he doesn't need to work.

Anyone thinking of leaving IT might consider this option.
