WHSOriginally posted by chef View PostSo just to be clear, "bailing out" other EU member countries is a no from the UK point of view, what about when the UK bubble bursts and they are in need of bailing out?"Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". No.Originally posted by Ticktock View PostThe current bail outs that have been happening in Europe have been due to the fact that the Eurozone member countries are using a single currency which they have no individual control over.
The cause has always been corrupt and inept government. Bailouts are the result.
Having control of the currency does not remove the corruption. In UK parliament you can buy your own MP for the right price. We're right up there with Italy & Spain when it comes to scandal.

The bail-out is not to help the country or its people (Greece has had to undergo severe cuts in public spending to comply with the deal)Originally posted by SueEllen View PostI thought we bailed out Greece and co via the IMF.
The bail-out is there to protect the interests of creditor banks - so in this case Greece can keep paying back borrowed money to banks in other countries. UK banks, in particular RBS, were exposed to Greek debt.
If Greece were allowed to default completely, it would have a devastating effect on banks elsewhere, including the UK.Speaking gibberish on internet talkboards since last Michaelmas. Plus here on TwitterComment

And you think in this case people in Greece would be able to continue to spend money they did not have? If they left euro their currency would be worth feck all and hyperinflation would destroy the country.Originally posted by MrMark View PostIf Greece were allowed to default completely, it would have a devastating effect on banks elsewhere, including the UK.Comment

A number of Tory MP's have been caught already lobbying for businesses over the years, time and time again."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Mark TwainComment

In one of the areas I use to live the local Nu Labour MP was up to similar. He was so useless he didn't bother to campaign to get re-elected.Originally posted by scooterscot View PostA number of Tory MP's have been caught already lobbying for businesses over the years, time and time again."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

Not just Tories, you only need to see Tony Blair...There are no politicians now, not for many years, regardless of party. Now a person who calls themselves a politician is an opportunist looking to help themselves and not others...Originally posted by scooterscot View PostA number of Tory MP's have been caught already lobbying for businesses over the years, time and time again.
Politician -
1. A person who practices politics. "Politics" is derived from the words "poly" meaning "many", and "tics" meaning "blood-sucking parasites."
2. One who has perfected the art of lying.
3. Person who so desires power that they have lost all notion of morality and will now do or say anything to acquire more power.
4. Are you a politician asking what your country can do for you or a zealous one asking what you can do for your country? If you are the first, then you are a parasite; if the second, then you are an oasis in the desert.
5. "A politician is someone who taxes the minority to buy the votes of the majority and thereby perpetuate himself in office."“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment

And the current situation is great. 50+% youth unemployment. And getting worse. The only way out is the Euro breaking up in some form - though better if the northern bloc leave.Originally posted by AtW View PostAnd you think in this case people in Greece would be able to continue to spend money they did not have?
