    Inside the narcissistic personality

Narcissistic personality disorders seem rampant among computer professionals, as here we see some major traits of people with narcissistic personalities, characterized by strong feelings of being ashamed of themselves all-the-while presenting a grandiose front.

The old saying "He is a legend in his own mind" describes to-a-tee someone with narcissistic personality disorder and these types of weirdoes are super-common in the computer science and information technology industries where geeks and misfits can become zillionaires, despite their crippling mental problems.
Good self-diagnosis - what you going to do about it?

Yes I was - but I think lower-class oiks like yourself need to be put in their place.

But your obsession with rigid labeling traps you here; there is no way I could be defined as lower class or as an oik by your own standards. I have a middle class job, live in a middle-class house, had a middle class education and was raised by equally middle class parents who were themselves raised by middle class parents. I've more often been labelled posh than the opposite.

Diagnostic Criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder are:

                1. a grandiose sense of self-importance
                2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
                3. believes that he or she is "special" and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
                4. requires excessive admiration
                5. has a sense of entitlement, ie unreasonable expectations of especially favourable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
                6. is interpersonally exploitative, ie takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
                7. lacks empathy and is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
                8. is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her
                9. shows arrogant, haughty behaviours or attitudes

                anyone we know?

Don't worry its not a term you are ever likely to need unless the other posters start using the word.
