I pay for everything whilst Mrs bea looks after the kid/house etc.

She says she feels bad about not contributing sometimes, but I don't mind.

Interesting thread. I pay for most things, 90%+.

Queencook has a part-time job (1, sometimes 2, days per week) - enough to pay a small (tiny!) contribution to the "joint" bills, her personal mobile, and her own spending money.

I've been getting naffed off with this arrangement for a while, largely because she stays at home and not all of the housework gets done. She looks after the kids though, i'll give her that.

You've got the easy part. She contributes crap loads!

Not picking on you other than that you put it so succinctly, but is this the norm in married couples as far as everyone knows, outside CUK... that they view it as his and hers money rather than having a household income and household expenditure?

Or are you just meaning that you bring in 90% of the income?

Salaries and dividends minus pocket money goes into one pot and gets spent/saved appropriately.

We are a family. That's how it works.

how do you know ? She may well spend the whole week watching Neighbours and shagging the pool boy!

Just because she is a mother that stays at home doesn't give her a free pass on workload.

Its just as sexist as saying because the Man earns all the cash and takes the stress associated with being the primary wage slave he should have his slippers waiting for him!

I bring in 90% of the income and pay 90% of the joint expenses, so both. This is totally fair. We even sat down and talked about it when I started contracting (i.e. I got out and earn most of the money, she looks after the home side). I don't mind doing this.

I do moan about her not getting housework done (call me old fashioned! haha), maybe i'm just expecting too much.

Given that the post I was responding to referenced the wife looking after the house/kids, yet feeling bad about 'not contributing', I was merely pointing out that she does contribute.

I did also dare to add my own opinion in, which is that looking after a house and children is a very, very demanding job.

                      Nice capitalisation, by the way.
