Because most people don't really believe there is a bearded man in the sky.Originally posted by d000hg View PostWell apart from all the other ways in which it's a stupid question, the fact that no exam body in the world has ever suggested praying is a form of cheating means it's a non-issue.
The question was a philosophical question, by praying to a deity before an exam, have you got an advantage over those who didn't? The only way that question is stupid, is if the believe the idea of a god is stupid.Comment

I do go to church but only to look after my children whilst my wife listens to the service and gets involved, I sometimes get involved with the housegroup meetings depending on what is happening and sing in the church choir. However, I am an atheist and have to quietly grind my teeth at family occaisions whilst some of my wife's close family who are young earth creationalists spout their anti science rubbish and subtly threaten my daughter with burning in hell unless she agrees with them etc.Originally posted by mudskipper View PostI thought you were a church-goer too?
Yeah - perhaps you could have just answered them rather than ducking them, that way I would not have had to repeat them? Also, for someone who has me on ignore you were quick enough to jump down my throat when I tried to explain to you why you were not losing weight.Originally posted by d000hg View PostAnd no, MUN, I have you on ignore dearie so I don't go for you whenever I get the chance. I put you on ignore because the situation was in fact the exact opposite and I got bored listening to your inane questions repeated ad nauseum.
If exam bodies had suggested it was cheating then it would be a stupid question as it would have already been answered, which other ways is it stupid? Do you considered it to be cheating? These are easy to answer but still you choose to just be abusive?Originally posted by d000hg View PostWell apart from all the other ways in which it's a stupid question, the fact that no exam body in the world has ever suggested praying is a form of cheating means it's a non-issue.
Any reason why you think it is a stupid question?Originally posted by suityou01 View PostWHSComment

Cos I viewed that one post to see what it was about. You can do that on ignored users you know.Originally posted by mudskipper View PostSo how do you know it was a stupid question?
No, the question was if you'd have an UNFAIR advantage. You have an advantage if you revise more than the other people but that's not unfair.Originally posted by RedSauce View PostBecause most people don't really believe there is a bearded man in the sky.
The question was a philosophical question, by praying to a deity before an exam, have you got an advantage over those who didn't?Which is what the author of that thread DOES believe. Hence it's a stupid question.The only way that question is stupid, is if the believe the idea of a god is stupid.
ps Why did you pos-rep me and insult me at the same time?
pps[quote]How childish are you? The bible certainly doesn't describe God like that and neither does the Torah or Koran as far as I know. If you're suggesting however, in childish language, that most people don't believe in any kind of God, that's not really backed up by the facts.Originally posted by RedSauce View PostBecause most people don't really believe there is a bearded man in the sky.Last edited by d000hg; 13 August 2013, 12:59.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

True but everyone can revise. In this case you would be directly receiving information from an external force, if I held up boards that only you could see with the answers on it then that would be cheating. If I communicated with you via a radio device then that would be cheating, if you and I had a secret sign language and communicated with it in the exam that would be cheating etc. Would this be different?Originally posted by d000hg View PostNo, the question was if you'd have an UNFAIR advantage. If you think it is stupid to be interested in the views of people who hold differing opions to yourself then that explains an awful lot about why you are religious in the first place.Originally posted by d000hg View PostWhich is what the author of that thread DOES believe. Depends on what you mean by believe. Most people give passing nod to their local religion especially as a lot of the time they have probably never really thought about it. However, even my very religious relatives rush their children to hospital rather than praying over them when they are hurt - despite one of them claiming to be a faith healer etc.Originally posted by d000hg View PostHow childish are you? I have been wondering whether it's a stoopid question. Then I wondered whether ANY question can be a stoopid question.
Then I remembered that Rudyard was of the opinion that YES, sometimes you can let yor head run away with itself
...
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools
....
So me and Rudyard find MUN guilty of asking a stoopid question

Pah, I am happy to ask stupid questions if I might learn something from the answer.Originally posted by EternalOptimist View PostI have been wondering whether it's a stoopid question. Then I wondered whether ANY question can be a stoopid question.
