I always have a laugh at the companies used by our leading rock stars to run their affairs, some really great names.

        I bothered.

But then, I want to grow a real business so will want to market more in the company name, not just set up a company and sit as a disguised employee.

I was stumped but my wife took the first part of my son's name and the second part of my daughter's. I then tagged Development Systems at the end and it was done.

Its on my notepaper/invoices and domain name/email but I don't particularly use it in my national TV advertising.
I chose a company name loosely based on my surname, and when I checked on some Company info web site a couple of years later there were several other names very similar to mine that hadn't been there before!

I don't think it's anything sinister, just people scratching their heads trying to come up with a shortish unique name not currently in use, and to that end just choosing a slight variant of one already listed.

The one thing you shouldn't do is re-use a defunct company name, or you may be lumbered with a bad credit history or even company debts.

Wanted something personal but professional, so named MyCo after the dog.

I thought long and hard about the company name and that it related to my work but would also allow me to diversify if ever i needed to, how the logo / header paper would look with company name etc. as well as ensuring that the website .com and .co.uk were available.

                      So in short, yes.
