I always have a laugh at the companies used by our leading rock stars to run their affairs, some really great names.

I bothered.
But then, I want to grow a real business so will want to market more in the company name, not just set up a company and sit as a disguised employee.Comment

I was stumped but my wife took the first part of my son's name and the second part of my daughter's. I then tagged Development Systems at the end and it was done.Comment

I chose a company name loosely based on my surname, and when I checked on some Company info web site a couple of years later there were several other names very similar to mine that hadn't been there before!Originally posted by Dactylion View PostJust wondering really does anyone spend that long on the name for MyCo?
When I setup my accountant said something like:
Do you want anything special or shall I just get Tulip & Daffodil Limited off the shelf?
Its on my notepaper/invoices and domain name/email but I don't particularly use it in my national TV advertising.
I don't think it's anything sinister, just people scratching their heads trying to come up with a shortish unique name not currently in use, and to that end just choosing a slight variant of one already listed.
The one thing you shouldn't do is re-use a defunct company name, or you may be lumbered with a bad credit history or even company debts.Work in the public sector? Read the IR35 FAQ hereComment

I thought long and hard about the company name and that it related to my work but would also allow me to diversify if ever i needed to, how the logo / header paper would look with company name etc. as well as ensuring that the website .com and .co.uk were available.
So in short, yes.The proud owner of 125 Xeno Geek PointsComment
