sorry its best practice in many large UK companies.

Its in Oracle so it has to be fairly common.

    Find courses & training with Findcourses.co.uk & Independent.co.uk

I could tell you about it but it will cost you £1000 a day

maybe its not so common in SME? Or they do it but don't call it Dunning which is more likely.
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

I had never heard the term dunning before I signed up for CUK. I'd always called it credit control.

A lot of "Americanisms" are actually old English words that fell out of favour on this side of the Atlantic.

The land may have done, but America didn't.

            We know that feeling

"The word stems from the 17th century verb dun, meaning to demand payment of a debt."

America didn't exist in the 17th century.
Please don't pretend wikipedia is a reputable source :P And if you look at that entry closely you'll see the only links refer to American entries Eg. "Consumer Credit Protection Act" &
"FDCPA (the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act)"

            How old are you?
We range in age from 60 - 30, our MD has come across the word in the UK once (at a large multinational) and Daryl our Senior Consultant has only seen it twice (once at a UK firm that used SAP and again at another multinational).

We don't need any oracle training, but we'll keep you on file just in case

Definitely not common in SME and not that common in anything under "blue chip" in our experience.

Like we said, if it was in general use in the UK a search for dunning would throw up sponsored ads for credit control/debt recovery and it doesn't (but soon will )

I can't help the peculiar ignorance of people in your company. Here's a UK company that uses the term http://www.fbdebt.co.uk/glossary/dunning-cycle/

Yeah. When you're in a hole, stop digging.
Cambridge University include it as part of their Debt Management course manual - linky

And here's a UK-based software company which includes the Dunning process in their software - Credica - Collections Software | Query Management Software | Reduce DSO | Increase Cash Flow | Automate Collections

Here's the thing: if I ever wanted money collected, the last people I would go to are Safe Collections, whose poster is demonstrating a level of cretinism that is notable even by CUK standards.
