And last week her site was hacked to show goatse, and Guido pointed this out with a SFW screenshot; whereupon she accused him of "distributing pornography via a link to my website" (he hadn't linked to it) and "sponsoring the hacking" (he's not that stupid); and the site remained hacked because she couldn't fix it.

It isn't even as if an MP is expected to think through the implications and possible snags of their pet proposal on their own. MPs, especially cabinet ministers, have hordes of Oxbridge educated civil servants and other experts and pollsters to call on for advice.

Surely some of these people would have pointed out the downsides, and the ominous precedent it sets. So presumably Perry was too obstinately pig-headed to listen, or to consult anyone in the first place.

No they find a let point many people won't argue with and then others see what they can sneak in at the same time. This is a prime example I can see the original idea, can agree with it tons point but dislike the hidden additional scope no one mentions.
