I use a 1950's yard of lead. Its heavy enough to beat a bob to death with it
I also have a Tombo Mechanical pencil but the lead is far too thin in that

The best results are from a conventional set of Staedtler pencils, sharpener and a small piece of wet and dry paper to get the correct size point.
