What if you arrive in a 10 year old Ford Escort, but glue £50 notes all over the body work? Would that be as bad? -

I would just like to point out anyone who says they don't care about what they drive is either a bird or a gayer.I remember the good old days of this site when people used to moan about serious contractor related issues like house prices and immigration. How times have changed!?Comment

Oh dear..Originally posted by FleetwoodI guy I know came to work in a Porsche and was sacked that day.
Another tosser came to work in a TVR and his contract was not renewed.
I drive a sensible four-door diesel.
I've been at several blue chip clients where their was virtually a competition amongst the freelancers who could turn up in the most ridiculous car: TVRs, BMW M3/M5s, Lotus Exiges, Caterhams, Porsche 911, Merc E-classes and bizarrely an Ariel Atom!If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.Comment

I'm afraid it is true, people judge you by what you drive.
If you drive an expensive Merc or Beemer, people secretly respect you, they believe you are a successful person. Woman will admire you (woman like expensive things and a man that can provide for them).
If you drive a £500 car it does not really go with the image of a business man or IT consultant. And woman will think you are on the dole or a loser.

Have you seen piles rupturing in under 4.0 seconds?Originally posted by John GaltYeah but at least you have the satisfaction of knowing that you could if you really wanted to - Nova 0-60 about a fortnight, Tuscan 0-60 in oh f**k!
I hate driving in this country - prefer Europe, fantastic.
The best thing about the car, apart from the chameleon paint scheme, is the 60 - 120 mph performance. Frightens the fuck out of the 911 drivers.
Mind you, the ears (and piles) have started to bleed with the roof down at 165mph+If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.Comment

To be fair you don't need bad car for that to happen...Originally posted by DimPrawnAnd woman will think you are on the dole or a loser.Comment

Seeing as though the BMW 3 series is more abundant than ford Mondeos. Surely the more exclusive Mondeo is the symbol of success?Originally posted by DimPrawnI'm afraid it is true, people judge you by what you drive.

As for Mercs, When I see one I just think of Taxis or retired men in pringle jumpers and yellow socks, unless it's some AMG version, and even they aren't asthetically pleasing.I remember the good old days of this site when people used to moan about serious contractor related issues like house prices and immigration.
