A Mercedes CLK320 and I am not apologising for it, Previously and SLK350 - went like stink but I spent half my time trying to escape from Imprezas driven by 12 year old lunatics and the other half trying to find a nice comfy cushion 'cos the suspension was so hard and where I live it is just one big pothole. Blimey it's depressing getting old

A friends father has one of these hanging from the roof of has workshop.

The workshop is an aladdins cave of stuff. The best being a 1928ish RR chassis with a RR jet attached to the back, built for a show years ago.

I'm one of those old(er) types who crawl over the plethora of speed humps because the car (and the old farmer giles) can't take it. I feel I'm one of those drivers that youngsters point out of their Novas and say "yeah, look at that old fucker in a sports car, he's not even pushing it the *****..."

              An Audi Quattro 4x4 2.0l 16v

.. contractor friendly in that it isn't a Porsche and gets me "released" when the permies find out, but still gets off that car park quicker than a lot of the permie junk that seems to be dumped there each morning.

Am thinking fo getting the new Alfa soon though..

Is this just an urban myth?

I've never had a problem with the TVRs - in actual fact, it's a good wheeze taking the client and occasional perms out for a spin and letting them drive it. Mind you, I remove one of the spark plugs just to make sure...

I know it makes a difference with plumbers, builders, sparkies etc which is why we move the cars before a quote, but does anyone have any real evidence that having a "contractor" car has resulted in a termination of contract?

Yeah but at least you have the satisfaction of knowing that you could if you really wanted to - Nova 0-60 about a fortnight, Tuscan 0-60 in oh f**k!

I guy I know came to work in a Porsche and was sacked that day.
Another tosser came to work in a TVR and his contract was not renewed.
                    I drive a sensible four-door diesel.

During the glory years, lasted nearly 6 years on one contract despite my 911, I don't think it was a problem. After hitting the buffers I am in a Golf diesel, really unlikely this will annoy anyone. Strangely I am now earning 60% more than my best ever previous contract. Need to build the warchest back up but can't help thinking about cars again. Would be something more sensible, couple years old 320/325 bmw or the like.
