But if you really wanted to cement the impression, I'd recommend a PUG307. Amazed you managed to get done for speeding in that alexei. The only way such a car would do a decent 0-60 would be for you to drive it off the top of a multi-storey car park!!Originally posted by AtWTo be fair you don't need bad car for that to happen...

I hate driving in this country - prefer Europe, fantastic.
The best thing about the car, apart from the chameleon paint scheme, is the 60 - 120 mph performance. Frightens the fuck out of the 911 drivers.
Mind you, the ears (and piles) have started to bleed with the roof down at 165mph+
At least you can get up to that speed - I've been restriced to 155
Bloody EEC

I think you can get the Merc re-chipped to unleash the Teutonic horses? Watch your insurance though...Originally posted by John Galt

Although I've not been faster than 165mph (sadly, the wife woke up from her snooze as I surreptitiously planted the loud pedal while giving a 911 the good news on the autobahns near Heidelberg), I've seen a video of two chaps in a Tuscan going through a tunnel in France at 195mph... the thing that struck me the most was the swiftness of the speedo as it rocketed from 110 to 195mph.If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.Comment

Then youll be saddened to learn I dont have a car whatsoever !Originally posted by DimPrawnCrikey, all the IT contractors run cars worse than the permie trainee office clerk.
Very sad.
In my day, IT contractors drove Porsches and Mercs and the like.
I quit the car four years ago after just avoiding a high speed crash on the M6 , sold my car to my sister, after which I lived and worked in Paris Rome and Brussels, none of these places are pleasant places to drive in so Ive used public transport which has been really fine.
I dont miss the car at all, unless you live in a rural area driving is stressful and not matter where you live its painfully expensive, in the past four years Ive sometimes hired a car for a trip whilst being on holiday, I never intend to own one again, and Im very much the richer for it. for short trips I cycle and my health has really benefited from this too.
Oh Ive had fun with cars before , when I lived in Germany I had a Merc and its was great putting the foot down on the autobahns and still love driving on the empty Scottish Highland Roads, but in the future only with a hired car.
But with the high fuel costs and too many cars on the road it just isnt a fun thing anymore.

Well, I hardly drive as I have worked from home for the last few years. I now have developed this quite worrying phobia of driving in rush hour, to the point where I'll deliberately move all my appointments to avoid driving in the UK between the hours fo 08:00-10:00 and 15:00-18:00.Originally posted by AlfredJPruffockAnybody else kicked the car habit ?
It annoys the hell out of my wife as I get a severe bout of angst when forced to drive anyway at those times.
I used to like driving on the open roads but Surrey is so fecking overcrowded and full of road rage that it becomes severley unpleasant.
To be honest, I agree with you Mr Pruffock. If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.Comment

Now that's a stylish motor ...Originally posted by DimPrawnWhy does having a baby daughter dictate you have to drive a people carrier?
Surely any car with 4 seats would do?
E.g. a Maserati Quattroporte.
I drive an Alfa 156 ...
