    The Sidecar.

    1 Part Lemon Juice
    2 parts Cointreau
    3 Parts Brandy

Put plenty of ice into an old fashioned glass, pour over the ingredients. Stir. Garnish with a cocktail cherry.

Alternatively shake ingredients well with ice and pour into a chilled martini glass.

Alternative to the alternative, substitute Bourbon for the Brandy.

Negroni - I like to make it with a dash of lemon and also bols genever instead of gin.

Big fan of vodka martinis, I make mine with 3 measures vodka, 1 measure jonge jenever, 1 measure lillet and a teaspoon of lemon juice

Old fashioned, Manhattan, dark and stormy, mint julep, tom Collins are all good.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

I also like cosmopolitans or caipirinhas.

Thanks for the replies. Will have to try a few of these. The Tom Collins sounds about right and I will nip round to hyperD's for an Espresso Martini too.

Only downside to last night is I feel as rough as a mangy dog this morning.

Lemon, non non et infinitum non!

Think you mean Bols not bold!

With a julep or mojito I think the sweetness is supposed to play off the strength of the drink, since you shouldn't really have any mixers - basically neat liquor and sugar

If you were drinking longer versions I'd probably agree with you, though I might try your idea next time I gather mint leaves as we have limes in.

By measure do you mean super or maxi? With or without applicator? Does the lilet just help soak up some of the alcohol?

I reversed engineered it from Charlotte's Bistro in Chiswick, as a present for a friend of mine. Christ, that was one fun evening trying that.

norrahe introduced me to the negroni - lovely and refreshing.

Feeling like a mangy dog is a perfect excuse for a morning cocktail as a sharpener.
