And therein lies the problem, many people think we are superior to Europeans let alone other nations.

So if not stupid then we are certainly swivel eyed lunatic little englanders with an overblown sense of our own importance.

Let me ask you why then if we should all be Europeans (with a tesco on every high street, speaking the same language, wearing the same clothes, doffing our hats to the glorious EU commission) why we should automatically subscribe to the version of the EU being imposed upon us? Or are you not so bright after all and keen to join to join the parade to support the first thing with "true european" stamped on it?

The trouble is that you people see the status quo of how Europe is governed as the only blue print for how a united Europe should be composed. It is your box and anyone who is anti your box is not necessarily anti europe.

Despite your much (self) vaunted intelligence You are not really bright enough to see outside of your own little Eurobox are you?
All I'm saying is we can't have a clear discussion of the pros and cons if we have unrealistic beliefs.
Yet, as per usual, you've launched yourself on one, thus removing all doubt that you're a cretin.
    Hard Brexit now!

Secondly, I think I've made clear that I think the status quo is a mess (especially their 80s albums and that dreadful 'you're in the army now') and that a new approach is needed to ensuring free trade and a healthy economy in Europe, and that I think that new approach will come if the UK stays in the EU and works with other members who have similar needs. There are many possible blueprints, and personally I wouldn't favour a prefab blueprint, but something with less formality, more flexibility in the details, a much smaller bureaucracy and a solid agreement on free trade and liberty.
None of that will happen unless someone truly threatens the status quo, and the only thing I can see that will do that is the withdrawal of nation states from membership..

Why is there this endless determination to make everything big? It is a self serving drive to eradicate competition and silence dissent yet we all go along with it. It is sold as making savings and setting common standards which is fine but only up to a point. The problem with our economy is that there are too many large corporations dominating it. They are influencing regulation and finance in such a way to stop competion and artificially gear economies to their way of doing things. Cyprus is a prime example of where finance has taken over the economy, driving up house prices, driving workers to work in finance and thus stifling any other sort of enterprise. Of course it has gone Norks up leaving the country decimated.

The EU is a big and growing institution. The bigger it gets the less democratic and service oriented it will become. Influencing will become a game (as I am convinced it already is) not of pushing for the interests of members but about sticking your nose up the right ar*e in order to get the biggest approval and the best job.

The EU needs cutting down to size as do the banks, and other global conglomerates.

I agree. That's why I think Britain should be in pushing for something new.

Britain can push all it likes but unless those that run the EU are subject to competition and accountability nothing will change.

I've said it before, I'm pretty sure that the Daily Mail read this forum as many a time has something been mentioned on here or posted and, viola, a bit later they have it:

Nigel Farage says he is 'entitled to a lunchtime pint' as figures show UKIP is the 'laziest' party in Brussels | Mail Online
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Their whole point is to flick two fingers at the EU and I think most people who voted for them did so on this basis. I doubt anyone expects them to get involved in anything other than entertaining us.

So sorry. I didn't mean to start the EU tulip up again although certain people seem to think that. Maybe I should have started a new thread called 'Daily Mail uses CUK as inspiration' as that was what I was trying to point out. Just to help, here's a 'swivel eyed loon' yesterday:
