This probably is not relevant, more like a comment on the human nature of taboos

but have you ever noticed how a lot of blokes find the idea of male homosexuality abhorrent, but cant get enough of the lesbian porn on Tube8 ( particularly on friday evenings after 10pm in the 'other' section ?)

As I said, I find it hard to moralise about what consenting adults get up to.

      But back on topic:

We have changed marriage with the introduction of divorce. Presumably that was a mistake because it was changing the fundamental nature of marriage? Or was that change OK, but no more changes allowed?

What about the change from polygamy to monogamy? Didn't Solomon have 1000 wives? Was that change OK?

You are nowhere near as objective as you think you are. In a culture where consent was not seen as important, you would not logically come to the same conclusion, you'd 'logically' come to some other conclusion that happens to agree with what you were taught to think.

But here's the thing. I was brought up to think for myself. I was brought up in a culture that sees incest as wrong, but I struggle to see why, so I don't hold that it is, between consenting adults. How did I do that?

                    Also interesting is this:

Homophobia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Some studies have shown that people who are homophobic are more likely to have repressed homosexual desires.[57] In 1996, a controlled study of 64 heterosexual men (half said they were homophobic by experience, with self-reported orientation) at the University of Georgia found that men who were found to be homophobic (as measured by the Index of Homophobia)[58] were considerably more likely to experience more erectile responses when exposed to homoerotic images than non-homophobic men.[59] Another study in 2012 arrived at similar results when researchers found that students who came from "the most rigid anti-gay homes" were most likely to reveal repressed homosexual attraction.[60] The researchers noted that this explained why some religious leaders who denounce homosexuality are later revealed to have secret homosexual relations.[60] The researchers noted that "these people are at war with themselves and are turning this internal conflict outward."

I think the issue is that for many people marriage is a union between a man and a women which will lead to naturally born off spring.

This is why childless married couples are often viewed as strange and why single mothers are still potentially looked down on (not by me mind you!)

ANd the point is that if a naturally produced child cannot be the product of a marriage then why call it one.

Why is the civil partnership not enough? As that is to all intents and purposes a marriage?
