Just to make this clear, we tend the Professional forums carefully and ensure that no matter what the regulars think, your threads are kept in check and not disrupted. And the regulars on the whole accept this and stay away.

As you have now chosen to enter the lions den that is General, I will not be regulating this thread in the same manner as BN66. And you'll find that I'm not as sympathetic here as I am over there.

Wanting to know real names and asking for PMs to obtain information will get you banned from this forum.

    Hope. That. Helps.

And I for one appreciate this.

I remember looking at some dodgy tax scheme back in 2000. The client paid them and they lent you your money back. A couple of years later it went bust owing contractors 000s. Lots of people up in arms then, but it was obviously dodgy. The old maxim, if it seems too good to be true it often is.

The purported legality of these schemes is based on semantics and smoke and mirrors. It was nothing more than a trick. You play games with The Taxman and he plays games back.

Kind of my point to any contractor who says BN66-ers "get what they deserve for being tax cheats".

Personally I don't even agree with this whole modern discussion about the morality of paying taxes, it has always been a legal issue only.

Ok thanks Cojak. I am only going to discuss this issue on the accounting/legal thread now.

Does this mean AtW is on the naughty list?

This sets a dangerous precedent as there are much bigger pisstakes to close in the corporate world (phillip green anyone) and if HMRC start going after those retrospectively Britain's reputation as a place to do business will be in tatters. The few million it will raise is simply not worth the risk.

Anyone who has either kept on or joined up to one of these schemes since 2008 needs their head looking at.
Okay so lets see, what if someone cleared your bank account and then defended his action by using a loophole in law ? Would you give up or try and fight this ? By law he has stolen your hard earned money, would you agree to a change in that loophole so you can get your money back ?

Seriously what does this have to do with the subject in question ? nothing has been stolen ! the 'plebs' have just used a Tax Planning arrangement that was left open for the elite.
