Erm, who the hell are you to decide for other people what constitutes their country? Do you think San Marino, Monaco, Andorra and Liechtenstein should be taken over by some other, larger state just because they happen to be small? Sounds rather like fascism to me. Remember, in comparison to many other countries, your beloved Scotland is pretty puny too. You want to play games of 'we're bigger so we'll decide for you'? Hey? You want the English to do that too?

Although it looks more and more like it won't actually be Scotland; it'll be the People's Democratic Republic of Salmondia, and we all know what 'People's Democratic Republics' are like.

You do understand what a country is? Orkney has a couple of towns and a few sheep in it.

I assume your street has voted to be part of Saudi Arabia? talk about moronic arguments, what an utter cretin you are.

But wouldn't there be an issue if, say, Orkney is a part of Scotland but also part of the UK and then wants to remain in the UK?

I think the fly in the ointment might be that neither Orkney or Shetland actually ARE an island nation. No more than the Isle of Wight is anyway. They are simply a part of Scotland and have no more right to vote for their own independence than people that live on the Isle of Sheppey!!

They are not part of Scotland they are part of the UK so they are as much attached to England as they are to Scotland
