Most places don't, some do. Cash is a very cherished commodity at the moment.

Funny how all these so-called experts like you, DP and Santa Clause end up skint.
Capital rich and cash poor. There's a difference between a cash flow problem and being skint. I am guarding the pennies closely, which is sensible to do in a cash flow crisis, and will help speed the recovery once the invoices start getting paid.

Even Switzerland does, so he must be in a real backwater.

Call the local taxi companies and find one that takes a credit card. It's still cheaper than not billing.

Lots of places in Germany don't although its getting more prevalent, probably explains why there isn't so much personal debt here as people aren't living on borrowed money.

You need to liquidate some assets and get the motor fixed.

I find it really hard to believe you have left yourself in such a financial position that you cant even afford to get your motor fixed.

I have money to get the car fixed. I said I was guarding the pennies closely owing to a cash flow problem. This cash flow problem is not of my making. It cannot be helped. Please do not presume to judge me without knowing any of the facts about what unforeseen financial problems have blown gaping holes in my finances.

                The problem is

                a) Locating a reputable garage. I want to keep this down to a dull roar as during office hours I work so spending hours ringing round garages in my pidgin German in the lobby won't go down to well.
                b) Now that the car is ****ed I have to spend 4 hrs a day travelling on public transport.
                c) Given that I have to spend 8hrs working, 4hrs travelling, 1.5 hrs shopping, cooking, skyping home I don't get much time to breathe let alone deal with the car problems.

A taxi to and from would cost €50 per day which really starts racking up.

Im not the one using the bold font screaming that I dont have any money, and Im not judging you. I was giving you a bit of advice about cashing in some of your assets.

If you are asset rich but cash poor then you need to balance it out
