I'm holed up in bed at Buggeridge Towers with an absolute stinker of a cold.
First day I've had off sick in ages. I worked from home yesterday but can't even face doing that today as I feel so rough.
This on started on my chest and worked its way up to my head. It's normally the other way round. Mouth ulcers to boot.Comment

Clearly I'm a teacher's child.
The criteria for a day off school was:-
1) are you still breathing?
If Yes, go to school
If No Are you dead? -
Yes you can have the morning off for your funeral then get back to school.
No - go to school
It stood me in good stead for contracting.merely at clientco for the entertainmentComment

Although, I did sometimes stay home for the first class after lunch on a Tuesday so I could finish watching the Love Boat

After 10 years of winter illnesses (probably about 7 or 8 colds and flus per winter) I decided to finally take some drastic action. Here is my 10 point plan:
1) Religiously take some multivitamins every day (sanatogen are the best ones)
2) Double up your socks
3) eat onions, garlic and black pepper as often as possible
4) Have one big orange every day
5) Always wrap up with several layers and a really thick coat (especially now UK has become Siberia)
6) Sleep at least 7.5 hours a day but aim for more during the winter
7) Wear gloves when you are out (even in the car)
8) Eat fish instead of red meat
9) Do intensive exercises at least twice a week
10) Try not to get stressed at home or at work
Honestly - it really does work, at the very least it will reduce the frequency of illnesses.Comment

There is bugger all you can do about it but you will build up immunity yourself over time.Originally posted by sasguru View PostYes, it's good for them, builds up resistance.

At which point it will be the visiting relatives who contract the horrible diseases when they come to visit.

Sending them to play in the dirt outside is also good for them (no joke).Originally posted by sasguru View PostYes, it's good for them, builds up resistance.
