Takes about 2 hours to drive & you could stop at the Hatta Fort Hotel on the way. Lovely spot up in the mountains...
However a few things to watch:- Satnav was pretty flaky out in the desert... and you really are... maybe just our unit but worth checking
- I'd be nervous doing business in UAE like hiring a car, everything is weird compared to the west
- Some of the areas you might drive through are totally dry, booze-wise. Do not mess about with Emirate law!

SNAP...
I will be going as well next week....
Its obviously the chill out place for contractors after the 1st quarter of 2013 grafting!
Anyways some of the activities I have in mind are:
1) Burj Khalifa..trip to the top
2) Dolphin experience at the Palm
3) Aquaventure park
4) Mall trips (one of them has kidzania - supposed to be awesome for kids)

Fortunately I had the permit. Probably don't need one now these days though....Comment

Wild Wadi is good for kids, lots of water rides etc.
The fountains at the Dubai Mall are also good, or is it Mall of the Emirates... one or the other.
The Aquarium is also worth a look.
I always think Atlantis is too far out but maybe now they have the metro thingy it isn't so bad? Not sure.
You'll have a blast anyway, I'm sure
If you are there for a Thursday night, I can reccommend Fibbers for a fab night out.... good entertainment and food and drink. It's also one of the only (if not THE only) pubs in Dubai that isn't attached to a hotel.Bazza gets caught

Did you mean the fountains you can walk about in CM? I think we saw two such places, one was massive. Could try to find out for the OP if interested?
We ate here one night, quite fun and nice food and I think it was unlimited booze although it's not that cheap: Grand Seafood Buffet
Getting to Atlantis using the Palm Metro is easy and cheapish, worth it IMO.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
