I just feel sorry for him , that a income of ~100K pa wasn't enough for him to be happy and he had to invest riskily to fund a rock star life style. Contentment with little is the key, then no matter what you lose you will be able to weather it.Originally posted by d000hg View PostAnd anyone who thinks setting up a business which fails makes you an idiot really doesn't know squat. But I discovered nothing else but depraved, excessive superstition. It's a bit boring though. Buy a nice house and then live off the interest on £1.25m-ish... what are you gonna do with your life no you retired?Originally posted by Gibbon View PostI just feel sorry for him , that a income of ~100K pa wasn't enough for him to be happy and he had to invest riskily to fund a rock star life style. What he did sounds like what most contractors plan b's.
Property and a small business to keep the wife busy.Comment

Sounds to me like it was mainly blown away on self indulgence with a half hearted attempt to run something they new nothing about, and some speculative investments to get rich quick.I'm alright JackComment

Couldn't disagree more, travel more and for longer periods, educate yourself more, help others through voluntary work. The joy of being able work through Latin texts with a clear head and not after 10 hours of work and 3 hrs commute would be heaven. If I could generate 50K pa, without working and be mortgage free, that's what I'd be doing.Originally posted by d000hg View PostIt's a bit boring though.
