Looking at a new TV

What are people going to watch on them? I had a HD-TV for years before I had an HD source, I don't bother recording stuff in HD (unless it's MOTD) because is uses so much space on my Sky box.

I can't see that coming to a streaming service anytime soon... maybe that's the plan?

PS4 will (apparently) output personal content in 4k, but not play games.

No news on the Xbox720 yet.

Agreed, they look gorgeous when they are off let alone with such a tiny edge piece when it is on. New pad we are buying has a huge living room so I actually have the nod from SWMBO to get a 60" version of this. I presume the 4k stuff will be incredibly expensive for the first year once it comes out?

How far away are you going to be sitting? A 55" when sat 8ft away is going to look like a billboard at Piccadilly Circus as you'll see the pixels.

Why? Is asserting that wasting money and time on TV not constructive?
Its a valid perspective to suggest that spending money on a highly depreciative non-asset is not a good thing.

i got a panasonic viera - 40" 3d smart tv just before xmas

cost about £650 and it seems to be pretty good

the hd is sharp and the 3d upscaling does a job too.

Or enjoying Life on Earth in Bluray.

or even watching an hour or so of selected tv a night on a decent tv.

We can afford it, its not like the kiddies are missing out on vegetables so we can have a large Plasma. That's what makes it chavvy for the Benefit claimants.
