    Maybe not on your budget.

    HTH.
It's all depends how you define above and what you are comparing it to.

I'd want at least 4 acres, 6 bedrooms, 3 reception rooms, Games room, Office etc. Detached garage and stables. Private road belonging to house. Otherwise my quality of life would be seriously compromised.

    Do you have that?

Sassy thinks there are no nice restaurants outside of SW1, no leafy areas outside of Central London. What a dork.

      Clearly he's never been anywhere.

But hey, if you want to go up against Russian mafia and Greek tax dodgers on the property price front, go ahead!

Enjoy a lifetime of debt so you can be 15 minutes from an overhyped restaurant.

Got no debt, mortgage or otherwise, just various income streams.
Because of being in London at the right time.

        HTH, BIKIW.
        Hard Brexit now!

I could do. But I'd have to live in the arse end of nowhere. Where do you live?

In the countryside surrounded by Pheasants rather than Peasants.

Yep, but at least we yokels can shoot the pheasants with impunity.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

He seems to be the only one in this thread who thinks you have to live in London to go a museum or a gallery. Restaurants are not really that important, plenty of them available outside of london. I am still yet to see a valid argument to actually live in London. Nowhere in London can you buy anything decent for a quarter of a million quid. You need to go out to Zone 4 -5 etc and that would mean a commute of an hour anyway.

The compromise seems to be a little bit more commute into London ( or none if you have a WFH type of gig ) and a bit more in train fares but the upshot is a pretty decent house with decent sized garden and a relatively low crime area.

What 3 million get you in my neck of the woods (bit over an hour by train from Central London - actually, I'm a bit further south that Kettering):

13 bedroom detached house for sale in Church Lane, Cransley, Kettering NN14 - 27557329 - Zoopla

What the same amount gets you in Central London:

3 bedroom flat for sale in Great Cumberland Place, London W1H - 27815005 - Zoopla

This is partly true. Best restaurants is debatable, best museums and galleries in the UK probably fair enough although in the grand scheme of things the museums are accesible from anywhere and only substantially easier to get to if you live on the right tube line. Otherwise they are a massive ball ache like everything else in London. Rail access to Europe is hardly worth worrying about and tbh from a large part of london it's further away (in travel time) than it is from many other places in the home counties.

You also have to factor in the things you don't get. It's noisy, overcrowded, oversubscribed, there is no point owning a telescope, the public transport experience is painful and driving henious, the schools aren't particularly great unless you can afford to go private.

So it really depends on your priorities.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'
