All the quality beatles songs get lost in the mince the public want to hear, 'ticket to ride' is a storming song, fantastic song, syncopated tom drum heaven, next up is Yesterday a full on pile of mince.
Edit: And I love the way ringo just plays the toms just an bit out and the drums behind on the full song. masterclass.Last edited by minestrone; 9 February 2013, 03:15.Comment

Has any pop band ever achieved a song even approximating to "She Loves You"? Even if you leave aside everything else the Beatles did, that one could take the pop song prize for the 20th century. (As could loads more of theirs, but I have been told that I used to gurgle excitedly and rock back and forth in my high chair whenever that one came on the radio back in 1963. I still do that when I hear that song, and feel the lack of a high chair.)Comment

I jest, when the Beach Boys could get Brian out sane they were the better of the beatles musically. I think the coda to surfs up is my personal favourite moment of music.
EDIT: Our prayer still knocks me out but hardly a night club tune.Last edited by minestrone; 9 February 2013, 03:47.Comment

That is very true Malc. But later Lennon would sweeten that particular pill by saying that Ringo was the best drummer for the Beatles. And let's face it, he did have a certain 'je ne sais quoi' in the backstop role.Originally posted by Malcolm Buggeridge View PostLennon. When he was asked if Starr was the best drummer in the world he replied that he was't even the best drummer in the Beatles.Comment
