The NHS is worse than a large bank. It is too big to fail. It is an Orwellian institution that no one should dare to criticise and no one should dare to change.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone -

Maybe if all the nurses weren't heading for "Commodore, Consultant, High Flying, nurse, Practitioner - Consultant first class' then maybe some of them might do some nursing.
A hospital is basically a Hotel & SPA administratively, why are they so bad at running something so simple.Comment

Not everyone who has told me the issues with the NHS works directly for the NHS.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostWhile all this may on some level be true it is really a sidetrack to put anyone off trying to reform the system. This message basically tells us two things. Give us more money or stop complaining (how much is enough? and secondly that the entire service is run for the benefit for those who run it and work in it ("choice is not the answer").
A lot of auxiliary staff who have some responsibility for patient welfare are from external companies.
Their management are a joke as they only care about money so don't give a damn whether the staff do their job to a high standard or even adequately, as long as the staff manage to get the right service boxes ticked for their work."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

With no sense of irony whatsover the NHS website proudly boasts of being the 3rd largest employer in the world (after the Chinese army and Indian railways). Did no one stop to ask themselves if that seems to be a little bloated for a smallish island on the fringes of Europe?

Vetran - you have a very strange attitude to nurses. You seem to be saying they should know they're place at the bottom of the chain and not try to better themselves?Originally posted by vetran View PostMaybe if all the nurses weren't heading for "Commodore, Consultant, High Flying, nurse, Practitioner - Consultant first class' then maybe some of them might do some nursing.

Very strange attitude. That's like saying junior doctors should stay as they are, because someone's got to do the donkey work and how dare they try to better themselves to become specialists....Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

My other half is a Nurse. She got up at 5:30 am this morning to start her shift, she will be back about 10pm the lazy fecker. During this time she will have to deal with some violent patients, and some abusive families whose sense of entitlement is endless. She will get little thanks. She might get a 20 minute break if she's lucky. All that for about £15 an hour, but then she doesn't do it for the money. How you have the front to critisize that is beyond me, I doubt you've ever had to work hard?Originally posted by vetran View PostMaybe if all the nurses weren't heading for "Commodore, Consultant, High Flying, nurse, Practitioner - Consultant first class' then maybe some of them might do some nursing.Comment

So just because your "other half" is so dedicated and works hard then that makes everything OK does it? We should accept the failings of the NHS and just put up with the service they give just because some of the workers are dedicated to their jobs?Originally posted by ZARDOZ View PostMy other half is a Nurse. I am sorry but you are completely missing the point. A service is as good as its worst employee not its best.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment
