    WHS.

The president can't change any laws - he can't even change parking laws. He can only approve/reject legislative changes that congress pass to him, most of whom would very much like to be relected.

I think if you look at this logically, with US having 88/100 as gun toters, and the UK with 3/100 gun toters, that we have about the same amount of gun crimes, pro rata; if we matched the ownership levels with the US and than did the same to massacres like this, I am sure we'd not be far behind.

So you are saying if more people in the UK had guns we'd also have more massacres, well done Sherlock!
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

The more guns a Western society has the safer it is?

It's just a bunch of stats, every country records them differently.

A clip around the ear in Spain wouldn't be recorded, in the UK they'd have you down the nick for assault.

No, I am saying we shouldn't really be shocked.

In the past I'd say you were wrong but we seem to be following America's lead in creating a society where everyone wants to be noticed and remembered for something so you are probably right there.

I'd agree some 20 years back things were different, but yes, that's what I mean. I think if we had the arms the Yanks had, we'd have as many, if not more, shootings. We're a pretty angry race imo, arming us would be the most stupid thing we could do.

I am shocked, angry and upset.

                    But not surprised.

And there will be another one along in 6 months. Will these morons never learn?

Have we ever had a school gun massacre? Probably there's some really obvious one but I can't recall and statistically shouldn't we have a few based on the ratios of gun ownership?
