And Swede. How long am I supposed to do cook that for.

    Stupid veggies.
Just be glad you don't have a Dutch sized oven

One bleedin' shelf, the oven itself is not big enough for a turkey.

Luckly we're probably having pheasant and no roast veg

Realistically a single oven is too small to cook a decent Christmas dinner especially if you are entertaining.

Well if the turkey comes out 30 mins before serving, there's room now for the stuffing.

Swede - like mashed spuds. Boil for 30-40 mins until soft, mash with butter, add some black pepper (if you want) = delicious!

          +1

And when the bird comes out there is room for the parsnips to go in

I'd have thought being entertaining would help distract from the slow progress with the cooking.

... come up with a decent retort.

Yes it would make you slightly entertaining.

My mother in law puts the sprouts on about now.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

                      Easy peasy:

                      and served on:

Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.
