    I do not get twitter.

    I don't geddit.

I just don't understand the point.

We have facebook, so I assumed it was an alternative.

But people do both. How? Why?

Jaysus the tulipe that people 'tweet'.
Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

It overlaps FaceBook - especially since FB tries to copy Twitter's functionality - but FB isa bout a network with your friends whereas Twitter is good for keeping track of people you don't know. Maybe your local sandwich shop. Or sports writer who can share tid-bits of information as they go about their work, etc.

I don't really use it much but I see the attraction to those who are interested in sport, music, etc... it let's you get a much deeper/closer insight into people you find interesting.

That's up to you; you choose who to follow, and therefore what you see. If you follow people who tweet tulipe, that's what you'll get; if you follow people who tweet interesting stuff, it'll be interesting.

One caveat is that somebody might tweet interesting stuff most of the time, but also retweet a lot of tulipe. In that case, you can turn off retweets from that person, so you only see their stuff. But most people retweet stuff on their own level; some of the most interesting people I follow are ones I first encountered when they were retweeted by somebody I already followed.

I have 3 accounts, one for me, one for sport and one for business.

In my eyes twitter fails because you might follow someone for a reason but only 10% of their tweets have any relevence to why you follow. You have to put up with complete mince 9 times to read that one thing you want to hear.

Im on Twitter as Stephen Fry, got 1.2 million sycophants following me, the actual Stephen Fry is clueless on technology, it's a myth, he likes Victorian Steam Engines or something..

Fry is a complete cock socket, a total tit who has some wish to do the left wing 'thing' as if it is his sole objective in life.

I detest how he prostrates himself to the lower order "I drive a taxi" "I do darts" "let me tell you how the iPhone works for me"

He dables in people's poverty as an issue for his pronunciation and claims he is someone who lives with them. Like most of the left wing rich.
