When did I say what my contract says, or how many hours I work?

The point is to get a contract which doesn't require 40+ hours in the first place, you dingbat. I guess someone in your position has to take whatever crap they can get and thank them for it.

Not everyone. Just you... working overtime for free because you're desperate to keep your boss happy and get a pat on the head.

My contract is for 30 hours actually.

Really can't you come up with anything better than that?

Nope I don't work overtime for free that's also written into my contract, obviously you've been there done it all and are the absolute best at what you do? So what is it that you actually do?

agreed. lets keep it to the permies.

I work in a team of 2 - other person is a contractor. Its great this time of year during performance apprasials as I claim all his stuff as well as mine. He is quite happy - he just wants the money.

As an ex IT manager I wouldnt let anyone have it, except me of course. When you run something like the sonicwall reporting software (cant remember its name) you can see that 99% of internet use is people wasting time when they should be working. Holidays, cars, weddings, job websites were the favourites.

I remember back in the day when it was an ISDN connection that by its size had to be limited, that person after person managed to think of a business reason why they really really needed it.

What do you think people will do if you take away internet access?

Clue: 'more work' is not the right answer.

                    Prove it.

Let them keep it, document it, and sack em. Thats what I would do.

Yep, but you're not in charge are you? Maybe we know now why you're an 'ex IT manager'.
