      Cheers Cojak.

      All good fun.

one might ask however whether you will remove the opinion from other posters regarding suject matters that push their own agenda?

I'm happy for you to add a post to this thread prozak, but it will need to be better thought out than this.

As I said people use umbrellas for a variety of reasons, and not all umbrellas are dodgy (you could at least list a set of criteria that you think makes up a dodgy umbrella).

Sorry I think my original post having a couple of sensible bits mixed up with trash has confused people.

It was more a post attempting (badly it is apparent) to show that the same lack of logic, personal opinion, obvious agenda and zero facts that are applied by some posters to certain subjects can be also applied to their obvious agenda......

I concede I missed my target... Must try hader next time... I was in a bit of a rush if that helps!

            Totally agree.

I'd use an offshore vehicle or go self employed.

Last on the list after signing away my soul to the devil is to use an Umbrella.

Just in case you were wondering I'm a contractor and a Director of Cojak Ltd.

I wouldn't use them but I wouldn't stop others from using umbrellas.

But I'd use an umbrella before using anything offshore....

+1 I don't like umbrellas but offshore is just asking for trouble if HMRC decide they don't like you.

I used an Umbrella for several years before setting up a MyCo, I found them perfectly straight forwards, easy to deal with and not at all dodgy. True an Umbrella is less tax effective than other options, but the service is transparent, carries very little risk (if you've done any due diligence on the company) and has a tiny admin overhead with PAYE tax.

I have looked at a variety of offshore and high return schemes over the years and each time concluded that while the returns claims are attractive that the risk profiles were far less so.

It's not so much the "dodgey offshore schemes" I avoid, but more the fact that someone who is trying to sell me something, which for all intent and purpose is an extremely complicated fiscal product, can't seem to grasp the basics of the English language.
