We have talked over the telephone. But she did have some auntie to hold her hand.

I recorded the details of our discussions, and forwarded it to client management who then used it to beat the account manager on the head. Clear evidence of lack of knowledge and skill. Who would have thought a simple task like "Create an index on this table with these fields" could take 2 weeks of elapsed time and result in a bill (from them) for two days work... (And that was only one item on the work list).

    Saves money you see.

(Just now, a colleague is talking to a Bob who doesn't know what what to do when he chooses a new password and gets a message "password is on the exception list, please choose another password". This is the SAP BW/BI and ABAP certified consultant technical team lead. I don't often swear in the office but that did the trick... ).

        Frequently.

Yeah - but that's only in response to questions like "would you like another cup of coffee, sir".

Clearly - this is the world we live in.
What bob offers their clients is to handle all the little people, and that the little people will never complain and never make mistakes (well admit to making mistakes). Bob offers to make middle managements life easier. No more resource issues, no more staff reviews. Sit back and hand it all over to bob for less money, what's not to like. Customers you say, who cares about the customers.

There's two ways of looking at this.
Option 1: these guys are so inept, our jobs are safe.
Option 2: these guys are entrusted with the technical infrastructure of our planet. We are so fooked.

            I'm going option 2.

Or, we are fooked, but at least our jobs are safe.

You'rw missing something. One company I know outsourced last year. The company they outsourced to are losing money on the deal so they've shopped the contract round and successfully outsourced it again.

Now any issues are raised on system 1 where it's processed and passed on (Chinese whispers style) to outsource company 2. They then attempt to solve the problem as described usually resulting in 2 subsequent calls being raised

                      1) a repeat of the first call
                      2) a new call to fix the consequences of the first call

When this company eventually goes down it will do it in style.
