You need to set quarterly and six monthly goals and objectives. Yes they need metrics to adhere to/targets but you need to tie their bonus to a mixture of carrot & stick.

Start some competition between them. Visible ranking tables rewarding the top, firing the bottom an helping the others. You need to measure and motivate.

I am available for motivational training and bar mitzvahs.
Bad idea. Great for shelf stackers, disastrous for morale among cognitive workers.

We are talking about Rec cons here. Even a blood sucking swamp leech tries to find lunch without expecting it to be handed on a plate.

This thread is useless without Aussielong's input.

This works for sales people. Since when did recruitment agents become cognitive workers. They're sales people.

Believe it or not, I have met good agents and rec cons. They are very different beings to your average run of the mill agent.

I once met a good agent. Then again I've also met the real Santa Claus.

SOME are sales people; the best, who bring top quality people into high level contracts or executive positions are not just salespeople; they're psychologists, teachers, coaches, advisors and motivators all wrapped into one. Don't underestimate the difference between 'Hi I'm Jim from Tosspot Recruiting Limited and I'm looking for a tape changer' and someone who brings in real value and puts the best people in the right places.

The best in any field are not just 'like the rest but better'; they are truly different to the rest in many fundamental ways.

Mich I agree there is a difference. In DAs case though he imports cheap Romanians to sell the big issue outside supermarkets while his staff try and find suitable locations. He makes Fagan look pious.
