There is no problem riding a proper mountain bike on the road (not one of those halford specials that weigh 3 tons). Most mid range mountain bikes will be infinitely better than any cheap road bike from when you were a kid.
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

No, theres no problem per se, but if you dont ever plan to go off road then whats the point? Yes a modern MB is better than your old road bike from when you were a kid, but not better than the equivalent road bike now. And knobbly tyres on the road are a complete waste. They slow you down and wear out quicker than proper road tyres.
