I do wonder what investigating all these old case achieves when it takes scarce resources away from investigating current cases. Some demented old bloke, let alone somebody already dead like Heath, is not a current threat, unlike current burglars whose activities are being ignored.

Obviously they need to look at ways of stopping such things happening again, but otherwise the police should concentrate on cases where the criminals are still at it.

PS Obviously, as a demented old bloke, I am only saying this in the hope that all my crimes will be overlooked.

I think it's very important because, if true, it would give credence to the accusations that the whole system is rotten to its very core.

Unless, of course, you believe he was acting alone (assuming his guilt) and that the sordid activities of he and his ilk didn't provide some kind of leverage to those who were pulling their strings.

How far down the rabbit hole do we want to go?

I see your point but, if the system is rotten to the core, will it reveal the truth anyway? I'm a cynic about government, indeed about human nature in general, and doubt that all these revelations will put similar abuses of power behind us.

Can't believe one of the former Dragons has been charged.

Doug Richard has been accused of 3 counts of sexual activity with a child and 1 count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Apparently happened this year. He's 57 and his victim is 13.

If its true, I hope he is bankrupted. And all the money given to the victim.

So he will forget what he had for breakfast but will be tried for crimes that allegedly took place in the 1960's?

Please do not excuse this as liberalism for his actions, but surely part of the justice system is you need to be capable of defending the claims against you.
But my understanding is that it is not a normal trial as such but a hearing of the facts. He will not be sentenced even if the court finds that he was responsible for the actions. The process is mainly to enable the victims to be heard and perhaps put an end to their torment.
