Something I've been saving for 12 years.....

The gent in question was a career burglar - he specialised in stately homes and the like. And, by all accounts, he was good at it. Anyway, whilst doing a job in some grandee's mansion, he'd been rumbled. Fair cop, etc. A great believer in 'If you can't do the time' etc, he was undaunted by the prospect of 18 months to two years in the pokey - this being the expected sentence by both his knowing friends and his brief.
Dawns the trial, however, and his circumstances have changed. To such an extent that he really doesn't want to do *any* time just now. So he decides to play his Get Out Of Jail Card.
On a job a while before, he'd come across some photos of Leon Brittan and very young boys, and had kept them for a rainy day. Deciding that today's court appearance is very inclement, he pulls out the envelope and shows his brief, who shows it to the prosecution. They approach the judge. The judge immediately adjourns to the following day.
Next day a chap appears replacing our boy's brief and says, "I'm looking out for you now. Don't worry, it's sorted." Our lad winks at his girlfriend, and goes to sleep for the rest of the trial. The judge sums up and says, "This is by far and away the worst case of burglary I've ever seen and as such deserves the maximum sentence. 12 years. Take him down'

Apart from Double Indemnity which has been hacked.
Statute of limitations - if that simply means there's a time limit for being convicted for crimes(?) - makes sense in some scenarios at the very least.

And I read yesterday that Roy Harper's in court.

I thought that was over as it was back in 2013 he was charged but you're correct, the new court case started a couple of days ago. Should have stuck with sheep:

Then, Harper says, his publicist told the papers he had contracted toxoplasmosis after trying to give a sheep the kiss of life on his Hereford farm. "That same day, it was headline news in Australia and New Zealand. A big story there, given that the sheep outnumber the people about four to one. Then it hits the broadsheets here. The next thing I know, I've been kissing a sheep. Then I'm president of the north-west Lancashire sheep shaggers' association."

I'm sure I read in the Metro this morning that a document about "irregular" (or similar wording) sexual practices in Westminster was found at the National Archives in Kew. The person who found it has handed it over to the government inquiry.

It was just a tiny paragraph.

This is true but they have already said it is a duplicate of a file that they have already seen. We just need to wait for the civil service to lose this one now

heard this morning they have lost it again.

FGS how stupid do they think we are.

If there are some old grandees implicated they should be brought to justice, I'm sort of assuming labour were in it as deep as conservatives.

It's being reported this morning that Leon Brittan had been told to attend a local Police station sometime this month.

It has also emerged that paramedics called to his Pimlico address yesterday morning had called Police to attend shortly after arriving. They are now planning a post mortem into his death.

This is not normal practice when someone dies of cancer.
