Woody Allen?Originally posted by Sockpuppet View PostFor me colour isn't an issue. Now if they tried to make the next Bond not British then there would be holy heck kicked up.
Doesn't matter what they look like as long as they can pull the dry bond British humor off.The material prosperity of a nation is not an abiding possession; the deeds of its people are.

He cant act,Originally posted by northernladuk View PostNaomie Harris backs Idris Elba to become the first black James Bond | Mail Online
Now I am no racist or anything but .. seriously? Am I the only one that thinks that this just isn't in keeping with who James Bond is? Idris is a great actor and I am sure the film will be very watchable... but will it be James Bond I am watching? This one doesn't seem right at all.
mind you it didnt stop Roger Moore or Timothy DaltonLet us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

I don't think you're a racist, any more than I think the people that objected to Daniel Craig's reinterpretation of the role were "blond-ist". (?)Originally posted by northernladuk View PostNaomie Harris backs Idris Elba to become the first black James Bond | Mail Online

However, I think both you and Daniel Craig's critics were wrong about the characteristics you've identified as being important to the role. Just as DC did, I bet the right black actor could give the role a fresh kick start at some point. Colin Salmon (below) could have been great in the role when he was younger. I think I remember reading somewhere that he was actually considered for it at one point.

I agree that a non-Brit would be awful, though. Some roles require an actor with authentic nationality. I can't believe they're re-making The Equalizer with Denzel Washington. I may ultimately be proven wrong, but I just can't see an American making that role work as well as Edward Woodward would*.

I think his dad was meant to be Scottish, so the Irish FA will probably claim he can play for them.Originally posted by Bunk View PostOff the top of my head, I thought he was English but went to Fettes in Edinburgh. Could be wrong though.
The new film I believe does something about his Scottish roots, maybe, maybe it was just something I heard wrong.
I actually find bond films huge let downs, contrived nonsense every time, a torture scene, a pump the girl scene, about 5 gadget scenes, big opening stunt scene and trying to look cool under pressure scene ( I noticed from the trailer that he fixes his cufflinks when the JCB is ripping the back off the bus he is on, please ).
Watched the Bourne films recently and though they pissed all over the Bond scripts. Just my opinion of course.
(and you can keep Bond, Connery was a celtic fan and went to the dark side so he is dead to me, Rod has always been a Celtic fan and got loads more chicks, real ones)Comment
