But it was not true 'death' though, was it? Jesus simply joined God in heaven again and they carried on as normal as they have since eternity and will do until eternity. Even his human shell did not die properly as it was resurrected 3 days later - although the gospels do vary on the details! Even if Jesus was God's son rather than just a projection on earth he would lose nothing by him actually dying as God can experience spending eternity with Jesus if he wanted to as he can do anything - he could just create a parallel universe where whatever he wants to happen happens.

    Spelling Bee,
Do you agree that the Christian God is not all powerful?
This is all theological as I'm an atheist.

God is all powerful. But if you mean does God have the power to be illogical, then that is a complex (but ultimately pointless) philosophical question. Pointless, because if God is outside logic, then we could never comprehend this as we are bound by logic.

Of course they also feed the poor and provide refuge for the down-trodden. But It's far easier to make a strong argument if you sift through the data looking only for the parts supporting what you already decided your conclusion was going to be.

You might as well say that humanity is a farce because of Hitler, Stalin and the things they caused, conveniently forgetting all the parts of history that aren't about war and genocide.

I'm with you here. Powerful tyrants will always use what tools they have to hand. Ideologists will always justify their crimes.

As I said, you misunderstand the term. The bible says God is unchanging and eternal. His unchanging nature is a key feature of Christian/Jewish theology.

The gospels say he was dead. And then was resurrected. the entire point of being resurrected is that you are dead beforehand.

There are other instances of Jesus reviving people from the dead in the gospels, those people (we assume) lived the rest of their normal lives and then died like everyone else. Does that mean they didn't die either? The entire crux of the cruxification and what it means is 100% hinged on the fact that Jesus was truly dead as a human would be, and then came back to life. This is the axiom on which the whole of Christianity is founded.
