I know I'm one of the good ones, I hate failure, every project I've fulfilled my end of the bargain and had to help others fulfill theirs many times. It's just frustrating when you're trying to get started in a new country. I have my British passport ( born here but left when I was 10 ), so thought I'd have a bit of an advantage over the average migrant. Agents drive me crazy with all their little games, if they were just straightfoward everyone's lives would be easier. I know, being naive again.
You've blown it mate, any minute now Janey gets her norks out and *poof* we're in Light Relief. You might want to start again...

I'd take the advice of the guys on here... make sure your cv doesn't say you're an Aussie, review your cv to make sure it is of the format used over here, and just keep throwing your cv out there.

I wouldn't take thing too personally yet since I think a lot of people find it difficult to get that first contract.

Make sure your CV is on the websites that are used in the job search engine on this site and you should be fine, just keep keep applying.

I have been here 3 weeks and only had 2 interviews so far ( neither successful ) and none coming up.
Contract interviews are typically hard to get but easy to pass. You've done well to get two within three weeks, but you should expect at least one offer from that.

My advice is work on interview technique. Also don't bother speaking to the agents who you failed the interviews with. You're damaged goods with them now (although they'll have forgotten you in six months time).

I'm from Perth too mate. I'm heading back there in a few months, how is the market there these days? Have the rates picked up now the resource sector is booming?
