Yeah, I know. It's been a long time since I'd been interviewed and I figured the first couple would be me finding my feet and getting a good feel for things and the next ones would be the ones I would get offers from. Just give me one more and I'll get it. -
Yes, they are, when I left. Makes me wonder now exactly why I did leave...Originally posted by Joe Black.I'm from Perth too mate. I'm heading back there in a few months, how is the market there these days? Have the rates picked up now the resource sector is booming?
Depends on skills of course, but I think you'll pick up a job with good rates fairly easy.Comment

Don't worry u'll be right, u just need to hammer jobserve daily from 8am onwards. You really need to be applying for jobs shortly after they have been posted and then do a follow up call with the agency 'to see if they received your CV'. My current contract had over 300 applications and an agent won't sift through 300 CVs so you need to be pro-active, get your CV in early and get on the blower. Also once you have your first UK contract on your CV, other roles will come more easily as it shows proof you're employable in the UK market.Originally posted by Aussie ContractorYes, they are, when I left. Not necessarily, I know roles that have been open for weeks and several rounds of interviews before the "right" person was picked.Contract interviews are typically hard to get but easy to passI'm alright JackComment

If its not a team lead role, you need to tailor your cv so it doesnt sound like you are team lead! If someone wants to hire a jobbing coder, they will probably consider you too high up the food chain.Well, I'm not specifically looking for team lead positions
Being a contractor is all about getting gigs and invoicing, not w4nking off over previous "Im the leader" permie job titles. If its a bog standard coder they are after, then its a bog standard coder you need to be. No one gives a feck if you can give performance reviews and other such permie mangement nonsense. You need show you are a match for the client's need.Comment

Yes, u will probably need 4 or 5 different versions of your CV as well, tailored to each job app.Comment
