Interesting article here on it: Why did it take ten years to block the extradition of Gary McKinnon?

tl;dr; - he's not quite the innocent victim as portrayed in the mainstream media.
    Keeping calm. Keeping invoicing.

The septics probably had a job lined up for him checking their IT security - who better than the man who knows how to break in

I agree completely. OK, the crime wasn't major, but it was a crime. He did do damage to the systems, and as the damage was only committed in the states, of course the extradition was entirely legal and sound.

Personally, he's actually worse than a couple of the ones who've actually been extradited.

Lucky boy if you ask me.

It's quite something to see when criminal justice becomes a mere political issue. Expect to see more of the same farcical opportunism once elected Police Commissioners that are more interested in getting re-elected than in justice come along.
He committed his crimes only in the states; he's admitted the damage, and admitted sustained attacks on foreign computers. I don't see how this is something to do with the one sided extradition treaty; he's completely guilty of what he's been accused of. More so, than Babar Ahmad.

It might be cynical to suggest this, but the alternative view (that he was guilty as charged) would have sold less newspapers.

But its only the Americans who treat us like dirt - so fook em.

Though it would have been better if he had picked on the French.
