You both missed my point you dull idiot. How can you attempt to show someone up in a crowd when only the two of you know anything of the subject matter.Originally posted by d000hg View PostThat's because we don't know about SAS, which was the point he was making in the first place.
Assguru is uninformed. Here's a well known book on C++ and R which these days go together like ham and cheese, in the IBs:
Statistical Computing in C++ and R - CRC Press Book
And its commonly argued that R is replacing SAS:
Wallpapering Fog: SAS in trouble?
Assguru has revealed he is out of touch.
SAS architects are getting 438 quid a day in London. It's not a well paid job, that's why it attracts out of touch dullards:

The problem with R (and C++) , both of which I've used in the field (unlike you I'm used to picking up whatever tools I need for a job, having coded in POP-11, Lisp, Prolog, C, C++, Java, many flavours of VBA etc etc) is that it doesn't scale for large data.Originally posted by aussielong View PostYou both missed my point you dull idiot. Until that problem is fixed, if ever, it remains a viable tool only for small volumes.
That's why all the insurance companies, all of pharma, most of the banks (heard of Basel?) all use SAS.
Now if you knew anything about anything and weren't talking out of your arse all day long, you would know that.
But keep digging, you're only showing your ignorance like an ignorant cretin.

As for the rate, high end analytics people are on a lot more £400 a day. But you don't really understand the data scientist space do you?Last edited by sasguru; 5 October 2012, 07:40.Hard Brexit now!

FTFY since your knowledge is apparently based on searching Google.Originally posted by aussielong View PostYou both missed my point you dull idiot. BTW, IMO, the hottest skills today require maths: in paricular statistics, machine learning and AI are coming together in a very lucrative space , this is happening more in the US but already here in the more progressive City firms. These sorts of skills transcend any particular technology, one should always be tech. agnostic anyway.
Now if only AussieLoser had the brains he could be on £1000+ per day, but sadly he has a low level job that allows him to post his backwards ignorant bollocks on here. I almost feel sorry for him, but then I realise he can always get a job as a barman, so it's not so bad

Oh yeah, Aussie is right about one thing though, SAS seems to be in decline . Not!
You just couldn't make up stupidity of that ilk, I reckon a dingo ate half his head when he was a child

One point to note: Aussielover is English, just one of those loathesome ones who've emigrated, who want to tell you how wonderful their life is *somewhere else*, how much better it is than England.
So he's much more likely to have had a staffy chew off part of his sconeComment

He seems to have gone. Probably kow-towing in some meeting: Yes sah! Right away, Sah! Is that 2 sugars or one?

Maybe I'll use my network to get a >= £1000 a day, 2 days a week, work from home, cushy consultancy job to keep myself busy.
Problem then is you start getting dragged back into the system before you know it.Hard Brexit now!
