will fall apart as soon as someone dies under the 'new practices' despite the fact they would have died under the old spanish ones.

Yes the person who holds a role purely on the fact she is a woman thinks even more people appointed not on merit but on ticking boxes of diversity has to be an improvement. Experience in the real world proves the opposite. The home secretary told a conference of senior police officers the move would bring "greater diversity" to forces.Last edited by escapeUK; 12 September 2012, 00:33.Comment

But commissioners were usually senior ex-army bods, with experience of policing in the coloniesOriginally posted by zeitghostOddly enough, the upper reaches of the plod used to be filled this way in the old days.
They stopped doing it because of the gross (even grosser than these days) incompetence of the office holders.
Presumably the quality of coppers will decline, in competence and probity, if senior ranks are drawn from outside the force.Work in the public sector? Read the IR35 FAQ hereComment
