Let me also point out that seeing as Nena was 50 at the time of that photo, she offers some hope to all of us who have a wife older than 40.

I grew up in the West Country, and thatcher caused massive unemployment. However, even as a young buck, I knew what she was doing was for the betterment of the country, for it was properly fooked in the 70's...Comment

No, Chrissie Hynde's a good musician. A very good musician. Nena is a top class MILF. Nena's looks and Chrissie Hynde's music; that's what happens if you go to that heaven place that the religious people talk about.Originally posted by SupremeSpod View PostShe's a poor man's Chrissie Hynde. And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? I have heard of Je t'aime and it is the only song I know the words to. So what has language got to do with music?Originally posted by darmstadt View PostI bet you boogie along to '99 Red Ballons' at the staff do though...The trouble is with German music that is heard in English speaking countries, is you only get, you guessed it, the songs with English text which tend to be the crap ones, i.e. the aforementioned Nena (who is a bit of a MILF these days) or Opus or the Scorpions. I'm afraid that there is actually a lot of good music to be heard here but you ain't gonna hear it in the UK. I also take it that you don't like classical music or the fact that it was Germany that gave a lot of British bands their break in the early 60's when British promoters wouldn't?Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

Diddley squat in my case but the majority of the English speaking world won't listen to a song that doesn't have English text which is why you won't find someone like Seeed or Tocotronic and any one of hundreds of thousands of musicians who produce great music yet don't sing in English being played on an English speaking radio station (unless its late at night and your name is John Peel or Andy Kershaw.) Its a bit like your mum, figuratively speaking, saying she's not having any of this foreign muck when on holiday on the Costa Brava...Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostI have heard of Je t'aime and it is the only song I know the words to. any excuse for women in underwear!
Agree Dodgy I still have to hear a decent alternative to what Thatcher had to do, everyone paying taxes to support workshy, idle , militant lefties had to stop.
Closing the pits had been happening just as quickly under various governments since the war (have a look at the various coal board websites) , Maggie was just trying to continue the tradition. Then Arthur 'I have a big house while you starve' Scargill decided to become a Che impersonator and 'fight them at the pit head until half the mines marked for retention had suffered irretrievable flooding..Comment
