His statement can be interpreted in many ways for many different people. I think he just means enjoy life and get the best out of it, because you won't get another one.

We must be thinking of different Hunter S Thompsons, I was thinking of the one who wrote "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me", not the one who was the secretary of the temperance league

Deary me, into the extremes today aren't we? Temperance league, really. Look, it's this simple; I put that sig there before I'd started training seriously for an event that I and possibly BP will take part in next year and I haven't changed the sig since then. Now then, do you want me to change the signature, or do I have your grace's permission to leave it as it stands?

Calm down, calm down. The smiley face on an internet posting is usually accepted to mean "don't take this too seriously" (actually I think posting in CUK general has the same meaning...)

Actually to this end I might be joining you and Brillo on the wagon for an event that some friends and I discussed last weekend

You have the royal stamp of approval.

Actually one of the greatest quotations of all time, however it's interpreted...

I hope it wasn't proper whisky, what a waste!

I find that as the only wine-drinker in the house, opening a bottle is a problem as it then has to be drunk. Until, I got hold of one of these handy things: Amazon.co.uk: Products tagged with wine saver
Now I can keep a bottle for a week or longer with no pressure to drink it to avoid waste.

It's unlikely. Most of the old boys who do that kind of thing think Bells or Grouse is a quality dram.

At least 2 months, maybe closer to 3.

Going on holiday soon so plenty of drink will be had then.

Ha, my choice of "today" as an option looks bad when you view the poll before noon.

I managed 72 hours in the end before succumbing to a bottle of wine & a couple of whisky chasers.
