Maybe China will send someone up soon. Though they have little time for "vanity" projects.

As a kid in the 70s we all believed we'd be living on Mars & the Moon in the future. Some of you are on a different planet but I'm not convinced that's progress.

Gotcha, a "comedy" post on a RIP thread. Caught me off guard.

Perhaps the saddest thing is he didn't live to see a manned base established on the Moon

Often seems to be the same with exploration though, people or societies have a way of overreaching themselves and then taking decades to follow up with permanent settlement. Almost 100 years between Julius Caesar's expeditions to Britain and the Roman invasion in 43AD, decades between the first Brit to sail to North America and the first British settlement, ditto Antarctica, etc (probably).

That was because of Global Warming. The weather was terrible at the time.

I'm of the moon landing generation - it's a bit like Concorde - we reached for the skies and kind of stopped.

RIP Neil - maybe Moonbase Alpha one day?

Are you telling me Moonbase Alpha never was? Those bloody lying Merkins made it up in a TV studio.
