Saw this yesterday (as my BATS shares took a pounding), people will always smoke no two ways about it, I don't think those who are already hooked will be put off smoking, and those who take it up will keep doing it anyway.

The govt may shout down smoking as bad, but could it live without the £12bn in revenue it brings in

And the savings of early deaths by smokers reducing demands on the NHS
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

It may never die out but I think it could easily become a minority thing one day. Already it's fairly rare in the middle classes compared to the working classes, at university I think I knew 2 people who smoked out of 100 in my college.
So it could well become even more of a 'chav thing' than it is already perceived to be.

A mate of mine stopped recently and he keeps those nasty pictures of smoking symptoms in his wallet to look at them each time he feels tempted to have a ciggy; I suppose in that sense the pictures could work. If they help those people who want to stop then I suppose they can't be such a bad thing.

I thought when fat people had pictures of other fat people in their wallets it was to remind them of the horrors of eating too much... then I found out it is normally a pic of the wife and kids...
