Ah! So you wouldn't draw any general conclusions about Jews?Originally posted by SupremeSpod View PostComing from you, that is absolutely hilarious!
Old Greg, I'll rephrase my original comment, just so that there's no misunderstanding.
"In my personal experience of working with and for members of the Jewish community both in Manchester and Jerusalem I have found them to be insular and self-serving. I was left in no doubt of my position that as a gentile I was deemed inferior."
Infer from that what you like.Comment

Depends if you're happy never being the best at anything.Originally posted by louie View PostTeamGB are actually 4th after Russia if you look at total medals, which is a more sensible way to order the table? Say for example country A won 60 silvers 30 bronze and 0 golds, but country B won 1 gold 0 other medals, would country A be more succesfull than country B?Comment

I agree with you that Gold is worth more, but is 1 Gold worth 100 silvers? I guess it depends on your perspective. I find the abuse on these forums pretty ridiculous.Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostNo because gold is worth more than bronze and silver. Let's say gold 3points, silver 2 , bronze 1.Originally posted by louie View PostI agree with you that Gold is worth more, but is 1 Gold worth 100 silvers? I guess it depends on your perspective. GB were 4th IIRC in China last time which is about as far from home advantage as a western nation can get, so moving up one place due to home advantage is reasonable but even 4th is remarkable.
And I think most of the difference is not simply crowd support, but extra funding for this Games to ensure we did well.
Any way you slice it, for a country with 60m people to come 3rd (or even top 5) is objectively a great achievement.
